Research has shown that traditional client supervision does not change delinquent and offending behavior and reduce recidivism. A more effective method is to help delinquents and offenders understand those individual and enviornmental factors that lead them to offending behavior and to teach them the skills they need to change for the better. The Carey Guides use this method.
We know corrections professionals have a heavy workload and little time so we have made the guides short, practical, and easy to use. They are designed to help you do your job more effectively by translating evidence-based practices into a series of strategies and short exercises that we have named “15-Minute Tools." The title reflects the approach — short, quick and to the point.
By December 2008, Carey Group Publishing will publish 33 handbooks to help Corrections Professionals deliver EBP to their clients. The 13 Blue Guides will deal with criminogenic needs and the 20 Red Guides with case management issues.
