We Recommend Training Before Using!

Carey Guides subscribers are urged to ensure that Guide users have the necessary competencies to use the Carey Guide tools.  The tools included in each Carey Guide were developed to ensure that corrections professionals could use them effectively without further knowledge and training.  However, to maximize the effectiveness of these tools, we recommend specific training on their use.

There are two ways you can ensure that staff are adequately trained to use the tools included in the Carey Guides:

  1. Download one of the attached curriculum and have a skilled agency trainer use the PowerPoint presentation to train Guide users.  The PowerPoint provides background information on how and why the Guides were developed, how they align with the research on evidence-based practices, and guidance on their proper use.  (Trainers, please call Carey Group Publishing if you need further instruction on the use of this curriculum.)  This curriculum is provided  free of charge to Carey Guide subscribers to enhance the effectiveness of your Carey Guides subscription.
