Community & Restorative Justice

A significant cultural shift for juvenile and criminal justice occurred in the 1990’s around an old concept called restorative and community justice.  Due to the pioneering work of Dennis Maloney and others more and more jurisdictions began adopting the principles and programs inherent in a philosophy that focused on the repair of harm.  Under the balanced approach emphasis was placed on offender accountability, competency development, and community safety and involvement.  Community justice efforts broadened this work to include more stakeholders and prevention activities, and engaged communities in taking more ownership in the condition of their neighborhood and the well being of their neighbors.  TCG is a strong component of this approach and provides training and technical assistance to help Dennis Maloney 5.jpgthose governmental and community-based groups that want to improve the quality of life through community justice.
